Turning Point Extended Care in New Haven reintegrates young men suffering from alcohol and drug addiction into the sober world as they develop the skills, confidence and spiritual nature required for a healthy lifestyle.

When Turning Point recently initiated a complete overhaul of their website they knew they needed to include compelling video to effectively tell their story. They also knew they needed to do it cost effectively. Geomatrix Productions was just one of the video production companies Turning point interviewed for the project. The Geomatrix video production team met with Turning Point leaders to discuss the objectives and proposed that in order to best tell the Turning Point story, four videos should be produced: one segment to serve as an introduction and organization overview, and a segment for each of the three phases of the treatment program. Turning Point liked what they heard and Geomatrix was chosen to produce the videos. According to Al Samaras, Turning Point VP, “After the first meeting with Cathie and Patrick, I really felt that they got us as an organization and would be able to tell the Turning Point story effectively.”

The video production plan called for shooting on location at Turning Point’s well-appointed Fairhaven apartments overlooking the Quinnipiac River, their beautiful Victorian home in New Haven, and their most recent acquisition, the stately, early 20th century “Stone Mansion at Spring Glen.” Geomatrix recorded scenes from the Turning Point program including interviews with staff and program graduates. These provided beautiful backdrops for telling the Turning Point story.

“Close attention to detail and thorough planning ensured that the entire project progressed smoothly while staying within our budget. The on-camera interviews were conducted sensitively and insightfully, and the video images of life in the TP program were captured beautifully,” Al stated.

During post production, the Turning Point story took shape as the footage and interviews were woven together to create the four short videos that effectively capture the Turning Point experience. Al added, “The videos have gotten tremendous reviews and have definitely led to increased inquiries. We couldn’t be happier with the results.”
